First was “Texas School” (Texas School of Professional Photography), being held for its first year in Arlington, Texas. This carried us through the first week of May, and while attending and working as a “Wrangler” once again – our fifth year, we were still fielding calls to schedule Holiday parties for December and schedule portrait sessions. (I love it people and businesses plan ahead! ) Not only was the week a great one for learning and networking, but we won the grand prize!

Thanks to BWC Photo Imaging out of Dallas, Texas for donating the door prize – a new Kawasaki Ninja named Sizzle! (Photos of the night our name got called and of the bike can be seen on Facebook. Just send a request and we can get you hooked up. Also, it was tweeted about on Twitter through:

bwcphotoimaging (their twitter handle).

We went back to Plano the following week to pick up the bike and drive it back, and it is just so fabulous. (I smile and feel blessed every time I look at it. )

Since then we have been busy, busy with catching up, deliveries, and several more trips out of town, and a last minute wedding being booked for Memorial Day weekend! (Talk about close! But no worries here – we get the job done! Period.)

Also, we added more prints to our display collection – thanks again to the many print companies that donated prints and services to the students and participants of Texas School. Among those new images includes one you may see in offices around town, or in your own mail!

Thanks to H Houston Magazine and one set of their “Kissing Contest Winners” (Mario & Erica), you can see their full page photo wedding announcement on page 29 of the May/June issue of the magazine, taken out on Galveston Island. The wonderful couple is getting married at the beginning of August out on the Island, and we wish them the best as their special day approaches!

Well as we enter into our summer season we will be having different specials running including a special week where we will be doing sessions out at the beach – (around sunrise or sunset), family sessions indoors for when it’s too hot to play outside, and photographing the seniors of 2010, along with our scheduled weddings, so be sure plan and call ahead to pick out your best time, or date, for your special day.

*Also, for our business professionals, we are currently booking Business Portrait sessions a week to two weeks in advance, so let us know when you’re interested in setting up yours. And as always, you will have a good selection of backgrounds and images to choose from, and can use your selected image as needed in print or web. (This package also includes a web version of your image for an online profile or resume too!)

Objective 3 – Referrals. We love getting referrals, as well as giving them to. So if we have worked together before and you love our work, tell others about us. Even if you are visiting for the first time, we will take the time to visit and answer any questions you may have, and provide you with information you might yet not thought of.

UPDATE!! 

We are going to be at Alfred Angelo on this Wednesday (yes tomorrow evening!) for a “Girl’s Night Out Party!” with different wedding related vendors.  From mini-up do’s and massages, to beautiful images by us, catering, and the great staff at Alfred Angelo, what more could you ask for?!  But then again you websavy girls know with us, there is always a bit more.  ;)  Just stop by and visit us from 4-8pm and join us for a great time, and bring your bridal party!

5. I’m a bit of a renaissance person, meaning I like to be creative, know how things work, design from scratch, draw/sketch, paint, cook, etc., In short, I know how to do a lot of different things.  I have an Environmental Design degree from the College of Architecture, at Texas A&M University – College Station (Whoop!) with a minor in Theater Arts.  My degree track had an emphasis on visualization and creative design, sustainability (going green), and yes, even some computer programming (not my favorite, but yet something else I know how to do).  While attending A&M I also decided to pick up the classes I would need to obtain an alternative teacher’s certification – so I got to observe and work with students as well.  And of course, all the while working on photography!

4. I started out photographing with FILM!  Yes the four letter word film.  J  I’m old enough to have started there and know how to utilize it, but young enough to play with all the new technologies.

3. I can operate a motorcycle.  This one tickles me because it’s the one that sparked this post.  Thanks to the patience of the guys over at http://www.trainingwheelstexas.com/ I can now (with practice) function on a motorcycle.  The class they teach is well structured, and they provide the training bike for the class (so no, you don’t have to go out and buy your own unless you really, really want to).  Maurice, Ron, and Melissa are all very experienced riders, as well as great people to work with and learn from.

2. I’m a “foodie” as Jamie (Hayes) would say.  I like to watch Food Network and actually make the recipes they demo.  And oh have I gotten some good ones from there.  Really – really, quick, easy, and fresh!  Also, such a blend of cooking personalities! Quite splendid.  J

1. Aside from riding around campus when I was in college, after I graduated and gained employment with the University (I did photography part time at this point), I rode my bicycle to work nearly everyday for over a year (including rain days).  And yes, I did just say my bicycle.  Office dress code was business professional too, but using my bike to get there just made more sense at the time.  I did have a vehicle I could have used, but to fight everyday to find somewhere to park just wasn’t worth it at the time for me.  Plus living somewhat near by campus did help (I wasn’t living on campus at this time.)
